Itinerary

How the day runs

  1. Step 1

Leaving the city of Ushuaia, we will travel along National Route No. 3, heading northeast towards the mountain peaks, Mount Olivia and the Five Brothers. Along the way, through the Carbajal Valley, we will observe cirque glaciers, hanging valleys, and peat bogs. Our first stop will be at the Carbajal Valley Lookout to take photographs.

    • Our second stop will be at a Winter Center, where we will have a brief orientation talk about the location while enjoying a delicious mountain coffee.
    • We continue our journey and start ascending to Garibaldi Pass, following the winding road surrounded by forests of Lenga and Ñire trees. At the Garibaldi Pass Lookout, we will stop to enjoy panoramic views of Lago Escondido, Lago Fagnano, and the surrounding area.
    • On the way to Lake Fagnano, also known as Khami in the native language, we will see old sawmills and a variety of beaver lodges, observing how local wildlife interacts with nature and modifies the environment for their survival.
    • Continuing towards the lake’s shoreline, we will stop at the “La Carmen” Estancia. Here, we can walk along the interpretive trails and take photographs from the large piers that stretch into the vast lake. The place offers café services, snacks, and restrooms, allowing us to take a break before continuing with more energy.
    • After this last stop, we will begin our return towards the winter center area, where we will stop for lunch, with the option to taste the typical Fuegian Lamb (not included), and then return to the city of Ushuaia with a memorable experience.
