How the day runs

  1. Step 1

TIERRA DEL FUEGO NATIONAL PARK MORNING DEPARTURE:

    • Leaving the city of Ushuaia, heading southwest, we will travel along National Route No. 3 towards Tierra del Fuego National Park.
    • After crossing the Río Pipo Bridge, next to the Ushuaia Golf Club, we will arrive at the station of the Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino, the End of the World Train. Passengers who wish to board the End of the World Train can do so optionally. The rest of the group will wait for them at the end of the ride. Along the path surrounded by Lenga forests and peat bogs, we will reach Lake Acigami (formerly Roca), a glacial origin lake with an area of 5.5 square kilometers, framed by mountains and forests, where it is possible to spot native bird species.
    • At the service area, we will have about 30 minutes of free time.
    • At Lapataia Bay, in addition to the marine coastline rich in mollusks and mussels, we will find traces of the ancient aboriginal village that inhabited the region. There, we will have time to walk along the boardwalk, where we can take photographs and enjoy the feeling of being at the end of the world.
    • From this point, the end of National Route No. 3, we will begin our return to Ushuaia, ending at the tourist dock. You will have about 1 hour of free time until the boarding for the penguin colony excursion.
    • PENGUIN COLONY NAVIGATION AFTERNOON DEPARTURE: Check-in at Tolkeyen office at the TOURIST DOCK.
    • We will begin by sailing southwest, approaching Sea Lion Island, where, from the boat, we can enjoy the view of sea lions, observing their permanent habitat in a wonderful setting.
    • Continuing the navigation, we will head towards Bird Island, home to Magellanic cormorants and Imperial cormorants, a prime area to spot marine bird species.
    • We continue the navigation towards Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, in the archipelago of the same name. On these islets, it is possible to observe parts of the Monte Cervantes ship, which sank in 1930.
    • Upon reaching Martillo Island, we approach the shore, and there we remain. It is amazing to observe how the Magellanic penguin colony, which nests during the summer season, approaches the boat with remarkable curiosity. They swim under the catamaran and resurface. It’s a spectacle that invites us to take countless photographs.
