Half day · San Pedro de Atacama · Chile
A guided walk through the ayllu, an ancestral Lickanantay pottery lesson at Turi Kunza, and a tasting of desert-herb infusions.
A walk through the ayllu, an Atacameño neighbourhood, with a Lickanantay guide and their llamas, who shares local flora, fauna and traditional uses along the way. At Turi Kunza, Gonzalo — grandson of the potter Isidora Ayavire — teaches the ancestral Lickanantay pottery method with traditional tools, with hands-on time shaping or polishing a vessel. The visit continues with a demonstration of desert herbs and their traditional uses, finishing with a tasting of infusions made with corn, chañar, algarrobo and quinoa.
