Rainbow Mountian Full Day Tour from Cusco

Start your adventure early as our professional guide picks you up from your hotel in Cusco early in the morning. Two hours by road to the town of Cusipata. Along the way, Andean villages and herds of llamas and alpacas.

Upon arrival in Cusipata (3,310 m / 10,860 ft), we’ll gather with the group for a hearty breakfast before continuing to the Phulawasipata base camp (4,650 m / 15,256 ft). From here the ascent takes about 1 hour 30 minutes, at altitude, up to Rainbow Mountain, also known as the Hill of Seven Colors (5,090 m / 16,700 ft).

From the Vinicunca viewpoint: the colored slopes, and the Nevado de Ausangate (6,384 m / 20,945 ft) across from them. Your expert guide will share fascinating insights into the geological history, cultural significance, and natural beauty of this extraordinary destination.

After enjoying the views and exploring the area, we’ll hike back to Phulawasipata and return by vehicle to Cusipata, where a delicious lunch awaits. Then back to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 PM.

1. Step 1

   Hotel Pickup in Cusco

   • Start the day with an early pickup from your hotel and departure toward the southern Andes.
2. Step 2

   Transfer to Cusipata & Breakfast

   • Travel to Cusipata and enjoy a hearty breakfast before beginning the adventure.
3. Step 3

   Arrival at Phulawasipata

   • Arrive at the trailhead and prepare for the hike to Rainbow Mountain.
4. Step 4

   Hike to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain)

   • Trek through Andean country on the way up to the colored summit.
5. Step 5

   Explore Rainbow Mountain

   • Time for the colors of the rock and the view across the range.
6. Step 6

   Return Hike to Phulawasipata

   • Descend along the same trail back to the starting point and enjoy a traditional lunch to recharge after the hike.
7. Step 7

   Return to Cusco by Bus

   • Depart by private transport and arrive back in Cusco with transfer to your hotel, concluding the tour.
