A 110km transfer southeast to the High Andean Lagoons, Miscanti and Miñiques, at 4,200m in the Los Flamencos National Reserve, surrounded by volcanoes. A further 50km reaches Piedras Rojas, in the Salar Aguas Calientes, where an approximately 1-hour walk takes in the iron-oxidised rock formations against the turquoise salt flat. Lunch is served in the village of Socaire on the way back.
